What’s this? It seems to be a demo car, doesn’t it? But oddly, there are only a few parts. This is the impression you might have. In fact, this exhibit shows NSK’s vision of the environmentally friendly and safe cars of the future.
Advanced Assist Steering II, Wheel Hub Motors, Ball Screw for Electric Brake Booster, and a New EV Drive System… Using an innovative technique combining narration and images on a transparent monitor, we will introduce the e-motion modules—made up entirely of original NSK technologies—making would could be complicated, simple, fun and easy to understand.

Advanced Assist Steering 2

This system automatically steers the vehicle when there is imminent danger of a collision. It has two key features.
First, when driver braking and steering are not going to be enough to avoid a collision, such as when a person or vehicle suddenly rushes out in front of the car, the system quickly senses the danger and automatically makes an appropriate maneuver to avoid the collision. Further, it quickly brings the unstable movement after avoiding the collision back into a stable driving condition.
Second, when the tires move suddenly, for instance when avoiding a collision, the safety steering mechanism restrains steering wheel movement to prevent the driver from accidentally making unsafe steering moves. We believe that these technologies will become indispensable for ensuring vehicle safety.

Thin Thrust Needle Bearing for Planetary Gear Side

Use of the world’s smallest rollers (diameter of 1 mm × 1.8 mm length, for planetary gears) means the measurements of peripheral components can remain unchanged as much as possible and enables replacement from the washer. We reduced the bearing torque by at least 70% compared to the washer. We also reduced the weight by about 50% by using plastic cages.

Stainless Bearing for Hydrogen Circulation Pump

We achieved longer service life, greater durability, and better hydrogen resistance than the conventional stainless steel (SUS440C) by using NSK’s proprietary stainless steel ES1.

High Reliability Seal Bearing for Electric Water Pump

We improved the seal performance by using three lips instead of the traditional two lips. Also, by using a seal material with coolant durability, we achieved at least five times greater water resistance than conventional seals.

A Seat that Senses a Passenger's Emotions (Ambient Seat)

This idea was born from Za Lab, a group of acute, young employees from our company who research seating. The seat measures brainwaves while individuals are relaxing or communicating with other passengers and changes color accordingly. We invite you to visit our booth and experience the future of seating.

zecOO Custom Seat

We bring the future one step closer through a collaboration with the electric motorcycle zecOO, created by designer Kota Nezu. We have added a mechanism that interlocks with the accelerator to gradually raise the back of the seat up. The seat even fully supports the driver's upper body during the rapid acceleration unique to the motorcycle's motor. Come and see its refined design and cutting-edge features.

Aibou Seat Ver. 2

The Aibou Seat (Buddy Seat) we exhibited in 2013 focused on a passenger's physical characteristics, making automatic adjustments to create his or her ideal driving position. However, this version shifts its focus to the inside of a passenger's body by featuring technology that senses biological information in order to monitor daily health information.
The basic concept is that muscular imbalance or deterioration results in poor posture. This is thought to be the cause of stiff shoulders and hip pain.
With an even greater focus on ideal posture, we are working to evolve the Aibou Seat so that it will tone antigravity muscles to create a healthy body.

Smart Roof Base Rack System

An exhibiting base rack system has 2 types of integrated sensors to help the user to visualize the hook fitting strength and load weight from a smartphone. Smart safety system for base rack.

Background: To decrease user’s worry about whether carrier is set securely or not. App visualizes fitting condition by gathering sensor data. This system is currently planned to be used for driving tests. In the future, gathered test data will be utilized for design criteria.

New technology:
1) Load sensor for detecting carrier base weight which is visualized in the App. It alerts on under/over load.
2) Torque sensor for detecting screw torque on hook of carrier base. App alerts if the screw is not properly torqued.

Smart Carbon Roof Box

Imagine a roof box that can be opened or closed remotely by a smartphone App. When the box closes, it locks automatically with no further user action needed. The roof box has an independent power supply, equipped with solar panel and battery. It can also be controlled by a smart watch.

Background: In case of a high roof car, it is convenient and safer with an open/close and automatic lock feature. A smart roof box control system.

New technology:
1) Lock sensor detects the roof box is closed and locks automatically
2) Using Bluetooth control, the user can open/close the roof box and monitor the lock status
3) Integrated solar panel is able to charge the battery in three days

Smart Baby Cushion

A baby’s condition while sitting in a car child seat is a common concern for a driver.
The inner cushion gathers data from various sensors such as temperature, humidity and motion to analyze, display and audibly notify the driver which helps support safe driving.
Background: A parent is concerned about their baby in the rear child seat. This cushion will inform the driver of any change in the baby’s comfort such as restlessness, sweat or moisture.
New technology:
1) Temperature and humidity sensors to analyze the child’s condition.
2) Pressure sensors for detecting baby movement.

Smart Sunshade

Motorized sunshade integrated into a child car seat. It can be opened or closed by a smartphone App. Alleviates concerns about baby in direct sunlight. Sunshade can be controlled remotely by smartphone or smart watch. Exhibited smart sunshade is equipped with a luminance sensor and automatically positions the sunshade by sensing direction or strength of sunlight.

Background: When you are worried about direct or excess of sunlight, the sunshade can be remotely opened or closed while not disturbing a sleeping baby.

TouchStart Router BT2 Remote Car Starter Smart Watch Model

new remote car starter can be operated by a smartphone App. This remote controller acts like a router between the installed onboard unit and the smartphone. Interior air temperature of car, remaining battery and other information can be monitored by the App. The exhibiting model can also be controlled with a Smart watch.

Background: If the weather is hot, you can cool down the temperature inside your car by using the remote car starter. In cold weather conditions, you can warm to melt a frozen windshield. A remote car starter has been popular in snowfall areas and now even more convenient with smartphone control.

Visualized Things App

This App is equipped with a new safety mechanism for drivers.

While driving, we wanted another eye to see if a roof carrier is firmly attached or to monitor a baby in the rear seat, or any similar application. A variety of car accessories incorporating these sensors can transmit this visual information to a smart device. This exhibit visualizes this concept with the exhibiting roof box, roof carrier, child car seat and engine starter combined into one App.

This smartphone car mount is not just a mount. When you set the phone to mount it automatically holds and slides in a charge plug in a single action.

Safe water ashtray

A new concept ashtray is designed to snuff out a cigarette safely and easily. Water is pumped up to the snuff-out unit by use of the ashtray knob. By placing in the tip of the cigarette it easily can snuff out and prevent any smoldering with a small amount of water. This new design prevents creating a foul smelling cigarette puddle in the ashtray. Ashtray can snuff out 4 boxes of cigarettes with one fill.

Honda original technologies made this vehicle the world's first production model of a FCV sedan with the entire fuel-cell powertrain consolidated under the hood of a sedan-type vehicle.
This powertrain layout enabled a full cabin package that seats five adults comfortably. Moreover, the all-new FCV features a cruising range of more than 700 km and exhilarating driving made possible by the high-output motors. Furthermore, when combined with an external power feeding inverter, this FCV can function as a “mobile power plant” that generates and provides electricity to the community in the case of an emergency.

Honda MBEV Concept is a two-seater Micro-EV powered by detachable mobile battery pack, which is suitable for short-distance travel.
