60th Anniversary Tokyo Motor Show Parade
The very first All Japan Motor Show (1954) began at Hibiya Park, Tokyo. The following shows were held at Korakuen Velodrome, Harumi International Trade Center, Chiba Makuhari Messe and currently at the Tokyo Big Sight. Accumulating a long history, the Tokyo Motor Show reached its 60th year anniversary in 2014.
To commemorate the anniversary, with the top executives of the JAMA member companies attending, approximately 70 passenger cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles that symbolize each era from the 1950s will start from Ginza Miyuki Street, which is near Hibiya Park, the birthplace of the Tokyo Motor Show, and will pass through the starting point of the Line 1 National Highway, Nihonbashi, to Japan’s representative downtown district, Ginza. A collection of the parade cars is planned to be on display after the parade, near the Hibiya Chanter pedestrian paradise.
At the opening ceremony, JAMA Chairman Fumihiko Ike will take the podium, the head of the JAMA member companies driving the parade cars will join in the tape-cutting and photo sessions.
The event will serve as a chance to look at Japan’s motorization, and will also promote and liven up the opening of the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015 which will begin the following weekend.
