e-motion modules		Reference exhibits	What’s this? It seems to be a demo car, doesn’t it? But oddly, there are only a few parts. This is the impression you might have. In fact, this exhibit shows NSK’s vision of the environmentally friendly and safe cars of the future. Advanced Assist Steering II, Wheel Hub Motors, Ball Screw for Electric Brake Booster, and a New EV Drive System… Using an innovative technique combining narration and images on a transparent monitor, we will introduce the e-motion modules—made up entirely of original NSK technologies—making would could be complicated, simple, fun and easy to understand.
Advanced Assist Steering 2		Reference exhibits	This system automatically steers the vehicle when there is imminent danger of a collision. It has two key features. First, when driver braking and steering are not going to be enough to avoid a collision, such as when a person or vehicle suddenly rushes out in front of the car, the system quickly senses the danger and automatically makes an appropriate maneuver to avoid the collision. Further, it quickly brings the unstable movement after avoiding the collision back into a stable driving condition. Second, when the tires move suddenly, for instance when avoiding a collision, the safety steering mechanism restrains steering wheel movement to prevent the driver from accidentally making unsafe steering moves. We believe that these technologies will become indispensable for ensuring vehicle safety.
Wheel Hub Motor		Reference exhibits	Mounting a drive motor into the wheels of an automobile creates several advantages that turn common sense about cars on its head. For instance, the engine, transmission, and axles that transmit power to the tires, all of which take up a lot of space, would no longer be needed. That would enable spacious, free designs of car interiors and the trunk. Furthermore, the function of a transmission can even be built into each wheel by using NSK’s proprietary technology for twin motors. Even two small motors can enable a vehicle to be propelled powerfully at times, and quickly at other times. Since the wheels can be quickly controlled individually, this technology is also practical for collision avoidance and self-driving vehicles. Indeed, it is grabbing the spotlight for increasing structural freedom and offering the potential for advances in safety and motion performance.
Ball Screw for Electric Brake Booster		Currently available	Electric Brake Booster that motorize the brake system are essential in eco-cars. This booster contains a regenerative braking system that recovers energy produced during deceleration and sends it to the battery so that no energy is wasted. Going forward, there is demand for a feature that can quickly produce the large amount of energy needed to operate an automatic braking system for avoiding collisions, in preparation for the coming age of self-driving vehicles. NSK is the first in the world to successfully mass-produce a ball screw for electric-powered brake boosters. Since the functions of braking systems are expected to continue advancing in the future, NSK, too, is pursuing ever-higher quality. NSK’s supremely smooth ball screws will contribute to improved fuel efficiency and greater safety.
New EV Drive System		Reference exhibits	While electric vehicles have already started to become common, there is still a need for further technological innovation. Increasing the driving distance by reducing power consumption will be the keys to the future evolution of EVs, which rely on electricity for everything. A solution to this issue that NSK is currently developing is a traction reducer that transmits power without using gears. It transmits power with a roller via special oil that gets hard only the instant it is compressed. Since a traction reducer transmits power through “rolling,” it is characterized by outstanding quietness, regardless of rotation speed and torque. The combination of this revolutionary traction reducer with a high-speed motor will enable further reductions in the size and weight of EV drive systems overall. It will help reduce power consumption in EVs.

Transmission Torque Sensor Unit		Reference exhibits	This is a torque sensor unit for transmissions that can precisely measure engine torque (power) in real time. It can measure the torque input to the transmission in real time by converting the loaded torque into displacement of two members and detecting that displacement with an encoder. This enables constant maintenance of optimal gear shift control, which will contribute to fuel savings and enhanced comfort in automobiles.
Friction Plate with Low Drag Torque (ν malti segment)		Reference exhibits	This is a clutch and friction plate used in automatic transmissions. When the clutch and friction plate idle in oil, they agitate the oil, which is one of the causes of poor fuel economy. Aibou Seat Ver. 2		Reference exhibits	The Aibou Seat (Buddy Seat) we exhibited in 2013 focused on a passenger's physical characteristics, making automatic adjustments to create his or her ideal driving position. However, this version shifts its focus to the inside of a passenger's body by featuring technology that senses biological information in order to monitor daily health information. The basic concept is that muscular imbalance or deterioration results in poor posture. This is thought to be the cause of stiff shoulders and hip pain. With an even greater focus on ideal posture, we are working to evolve the Aibou Seat so that it will tone antigravity muscles to create a healthy body.
