Let's Drive Together! Completely Redesigned - The New GIGA -

In addition to boasting more than adequate basic performance, the new GIGA features a level functionality that raises it to new level above the competition.
The introduction of the new GIGA shifts Isuzu's motto of Supporting Transport to a new stage and marks a new start in customer support service.

GIGA CNG-MPI

Reference exhibits

Heavy-duty CNG (compressed natural gas) truck has been developed to reduce CO2 emission during transport between cities, as well as to secure energy.

CNG MPI (multi-port injection) system (which enables us to control fuel injection finely), together with three-way catalyst and cooled EGR system, brings us compliance with domestic emission regulation with a benefit of CO2 emission reduction.

FORWARD F-CARGO Special Spectification

Currently available

Isuzu F-series medium-duty truck named FORWARD (F Cargo) is highly evaluated for its many variations, equipped with lane departure warning system (LDWS), Isuzu electronic stability control (IESC) (vehicle skid control), pre-crash brake (PCB) system, and milliwave vehicle-to-vehcle distance warning system (the former two systems are now available, and the latter two in the near future).

ELF HYBRID VEHICLE

Currently available

Isuzu light-duty truck named Elf is highly evaluated for the best fuel economy in the light-duty diesel truck market (*1). A new hybrid Elf with further advanced performance has been launched in the market this year (10 years after the first hybrid truck introduction in the market), equipped with 'Smart Glide +e' control (*2) which contributes to fuel economy improvement, and having capability to run in EV mode (quiet run only on motor power).
(*1) 3.5 to 7.5 ton total vehicle weight, 2 to 3 ton maximum payload (2WD), 2 ton maximum payload (4WD), heavy vehicle fuel consumption test (August 31, 2015)
(*2) While running at a constant speed, the vehicle operation is changed to fuel saving mode with clutch disconnected to utilize inertia. When speed drops or more power is needed, the motor provides additional power. Smooth operation is realized.

New ERGA

Currently available

New heavy-duty city bus named 'ERGA' launched on August 18, 2015. The bus was developed in an MIT project to address the needs in local areas (e.g. aging society, consideration to immobile people, driving environment improvement, addressing safety and environment issues). Major changes are 1) wider non-step area, 2) front-facing priority seat, 3) high ceiling to have feeling of roomy interior space. The bus is equipped with a downsized in-line 4-cylinder engine to reduce weight and improve fuel economy. AMT is recommended to customers who want fuel economy more than dynamic performance, and AT to customers who want dynamic performance more than fuel economy. In any way, the vehicle has only 2 pedals and thus driving is easy.

ISUZU D-MAX X-SERIES Hi-Lander

Reference exhibits

ISUZU D-MAX X-Series is a special model, differentiated from standard one with the red name badge, having characteristic appearance of sportiness and strength. The series aims at customers, especially young people who want to have or do something different from others. The exhibited vehicle named 'Hi-Lander' is a premium luxurious model having a strong presence in a city while giving crossover utility vehicle impressions.

TX80 5Tons Loading Truck

Reference exhibits

Isuzu TX80 truck has a payload capacity of 5 tons, developed to meet the demands to restore industries after World War II, and was highly evaluated for its strength, ride comfort and economy, as a pioneer of long haul heavy-duty trucks in Japan. Isuzu TX trucks were highly reputed, and achieved the first place in the 5- to 6-ton truck market in Japan.

6UZ1-TCS DIESEL ENGINE

Currently available

Isuzu 6UZ1-TCS engines are mounted on heavy-duty trucks, and its lightweight and compact design contributes to securing loading capacity. This is a powerful low-emission engine which can generate high torque even at low speeds, and can achieve both fuel economy and dynamic performance at the same time. Low speed torque as well as fuel economy have been improved. Moreover, the engine is equipped with engine retarder to improve auxiliary braking force.

6NX1-TCS DIESEL ENGINE

Reference exhibits

World's top class light weight engine for the heavy-duty trucks.Improved auxiliary braking force with an engine retarder.Equipped with a 2-stage turbo to achieve high efficiency at all engine speeds.

4HK1-TCS DIESEL ENGINE

Currently available

This is a down-sized engine developed for the new heavy-duty city bus 'Erga'. High turbocharging efficiency is achieved over the entire speed range by optimizing the control of high- and low-boost-pressure turbochargers, which promotes EGR performance and reduces NOx without compromising engine combustion efficiency. Moreover, with the advanced after-treatment technology, PM is caught and burned by DPD, and NOx is decomposed into harmless water and nitrogen by urea injection SCR. As a result, engine emissions have been greatly reduced while improving basic engine performance.

MJX12 Transmission (Smoother-Gx)

Currently available

This is a multi-speed splitter range transmission (12 speeds forward, 2 speeds rearward) mounted on a heavy-duty truck. Eletronic controlled AMT named 'Smoother Gx' helps reduce driver fatigue. Also, cooperative control with the engine reduces gear change time and thus improves drive feeling. Moreover, fuel economy is improved by adopting Smart Glide technology (inertia running by shifting gear to neutral when certain conditions are met) and by providing clutch housing with oil baffle.

MEB9 Transmission

Reference exhibits

This is a down-sized yet high-torque multi-speed transmission (9 speeds forward, 1 speed rearward) mounted on heavy-duty truck. Characteristics of this transmission are top-class wide gear ratio coverage and low stirring resistance (good fuel economy), as well as helical gears for changing range (noise reduction and compact case design). Moreover, smooth gear change (low operating force) from 2nd to 9th gear is realized by adopting large capacity carbon synchronizers.

MZW6 Transmission

Currently available

This is a lightweight, compact 6-speed automated manual transmission (AMT) developed for heavy-duty city buses, with which you can operate the bus easily without operating clutch. With the fluid coupling, you can start the bus easily as it can creep and move very slowly. When changing gear, wet multiplate clutch connects and disconnects power, and durable solenoid actuator changes gear. You can select manual or automated gear change mode according to the situation. Weight has been greatly reduced from that of the previous model.

MIMAMORI・PREiSM

Others

Isuzu fleet operations management named 'Mimamori' is a telematics system for commercial vehicles to communicate vehicle operating data on Internet. By analyzing vehicle data remotely, Isuzu can offer various beneficial services (e.g. monitoring for compliance with traffic rules) and eco-drive advice.
Isuzu further utilizes Mimamori, and starts to offer a new program named 'PREiSM' for the new GIGA, which assists and supports vehicle operation. Isuzu always watches the trend in vehicle operating conditions, and recommends customers to take preventive action to secure stable vehicle operation.

Safety Technology

Reference exhibits

Isuzu has been thoroughly analyzing performance characteristics of commercial vehicles to pursue safety from various points of view. For example, new GIGA and new FORWARD are provided with such advanced technologies as view assist technology (VAT) and Isuzu electronic stability control (IESC), to totally support preventive safety. By utilizing sensors, VAT detects impending danger as early as possible, and supports driver's recognition, decision and operation. IESC detects driver's operation of vehicle and vehicle behavior, gives warning when the system decides that the unstable position of the vehicle will end up in skid or rollover, and takes over control of the engine and brake systems to prevent accident.
