NAVITIME JAPAN is a provider of a total navigation service. President and CEO, Keisuke Onishi, Ph. D. suggests the significance of their SMC exhibition is "to have people from all over the world see our navigation system which covers all types of transportation to allow for ease of heart during travel". The company has already created and rolled out a service that diverts users from congested roads. With the addition of NAVITIME's point service (NAVITIME mileage), users are also encouraged to become actively involved in avoiding traffic. "This is bringing traffic-free roads back in to our lives," says Dr. Onishi.
In addition, "We are currently planning to provide the fastest route for public transportation by automatically avoiding congestion. In addition, we are also planning to use our own algorithm to improve our transportation consulting business by optimizing transportation routes". There will be easy to understand explanations of these initiatives at this year's SMC.
Automated driving is essential to future vehicles. "As automated driving becomes more common, navigation will be completely dedicated to the cars themselves. A day where 'Mr. NAVITIME' will be in the car, allowing passengers to talk to their cars about where they want to go and what they want to eat, is not too far off". Furthermore, research into public transportation schedules and infrastructure may eventually allow predictions for public transportation even without previous data, in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The new navigation system that will support the cars of the future will be on display at the exhibition booth.
