Honda Motor Co., Ltd. looks to provide "the enjoyment of free movement, and the realization of the sustainable society," and proposing ways for people to go where they want, when they want, and how they want. Naohiro Maeda from the Community Planning Department explains mobility vehicles' roles in the future, saying that "mobility vehicles will become more than just a way to transport people; it will also become a vehicle for transporting energy and information. I believe it will provide a future lifestyle that allows for more connections".
In order to achieve this, Honda will contribute to society through "creating, using, and connecting". "Creating" means creating energy. Honda will propose things such as smart hydrogen stations that converts renewable energy to hydrogen, or mobility solutions with electric motors, such as electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. "Using" means reducing CO2 emissions from using mobility vehicles, or using renewable energy. "Connecting" means connecting mobility solutions to buildings to use it as a battery or a generator. By utilizing these technologies, Honda hopes to promote building a smarter community.
In order to display that worldview, "at this year's SMC2015 we are not displaying one single product or technology, but instead presenting the scenes in which those technologies may be used. We also want to propose solutions to energy problems in various places," says Mr. Maeda.
The anticipation doesn't end at mobility, but also for SMC2015 which proposes a lifestyle and society of the future. "By participating in SMC2015, I hope many visitors will be able to be thrilled and excited about the future. I am also anticipating it to be a place to propose a new society through cars".
